*********************************** AM/FM *********************************** Title : Music Madness Producers : Pendle Europa 17bit No. : 2655 Musicans : Various No. Disks : 1 No. Tracks : 50 ! *********************************** AM/FM *********************************** Wow, loads of music ! With 50 tracks on one disk obviously some of the songs are quite small, and it's pretty likely we're going to encounter some chip music. Here's a few songs I picked out. Stroboskop, by Virus of Legend : This is one of the many techno inspired tracks on the disk. The best feature of this particular song is unboubtably the excellent drum track, it's so powerfull. What's the rest like ? It's good, there's some very well performed bass tracks which use a variety of suitibly angry sounding basses, with a few acid sounding ones. That's about all I can actually write about it, but take my word for it, it sounds very good..............................................................Rating 7 Chubby Chip Chip, by Mark Knight of T.D.K : Unsurprisingly enough this is chip music, bot just any old chip music though, it's chip music at it's very best. Featuring a fast and cheery bass/drumcombination, the song firstly plays the usual high pitched sine wave type instrument, accompanied by the usual appregio effects, but then this song goes off at a tangent, introducing some beutiful synth sounds, and samples into the works. It's such a likeable song, that you'll listen to it for hours..........Rating 8 Techno Rave, by Blacky of Legend : No prizes for guessing what style of music this is, you might think. But actually it's closer to the trance dance music that's very popular at the moment. It still retains the strong bass drum rhythm with the odd hi-hat thrown in, but mixes it's techno basses in with choral/string samples, and uses some great stereo echoing effect to set quite a tranquil mood. A nightmare to describe, but a dream to listen to................................................................Rating 7 Closing, by Randomvoice of Symbiosis : What a great sounding metallic-synth sound. This is mainly what the rhythm and lead parts are composed of, with some very powerfull drums, and an interesting melody. There are also a few changes in tempo, and the whole mood of the song changes from it's very intense serious beginnings, to it's light hearted, and pop song sounding conclusion........................................................Rating 7 Hypnotic II by Zyx of Extasies : Another techno track; this one gets started quite gently, kicking off with the bass, and then bringing in the drums before starting in with it's techno bass rhythm. Once it's all underway, some other interesting samples get in on the action, a great distorted bass sample whizzes up the scale along with quite a different-than-usual orchestral hit sample. It get a little bit repetitive after a while, but it's still a pretty good song.....................................Rating 6 Composistions : There's an incredible amount of variety in these 50 songs, I'd go on and write about some more if I could actually think up a decent way of describing them, a few of the other songs featured on the disk are : 2 versions of Popcorn, the Mission Impossible theme, a pretty good rendidtion of the Terminator 2 theme, and some J.S Bach. Obviously there not all brilliant, and I've seen 3, or 4 of them on compilation disks before, but 3 or 4 out of 50 songs is quite good, and the bad tracks are few and far between...........................................................Rating 7 Samples : Generally very good, the drum track in "Stroboskop" was superb, the best dance beat I've heard in ages. There were also a lot of nice bass, and synth samples about. There were some beutiful chip sounds scattered about, much better than the usual screaming sine waves, and the repetitive appregios. It wasn't all brilliant, but nothing was really bad....Rating 7 Presentation : The usual fading in, and out of the titles, who did it, and what it is (the disk that it). The actual music selector screen consists of Play and Stop gagets, with Up, and Down arrow gagets to scroll through the different songs availible. Whilst a piece is playing, the title and composer is displayed, and you also get to see some pretty equaliser bars go up, and down. It's all nice and colourfull, very well presented, with fast disk access and decrunching............................................Rating 8 AM/FM Rating : What a well put together disk, even those of you who don't like chip music (shame on you) should be happy with this; there's plenty of 'traditional' songs on as well. There are some seriously addictive songs, be warned, personally I loved it, this disk should be an essential part of your collection, so get it now.........................................Rating 8 *********************************** AM/FM ***********************************
